Orange You Glad You Stopped in The City of Charm?

Officials at The Avon Park Main Street have announced they’ve kicked off a community fundraising campaign to bring a vibrant new mural to downtown, celebrating the city’s citrus heritage amid challenges facing the industry.
The organization has unveiled the official rendering of the “Orange You Glad You Stopped Here” mural, designed to be fun, playful and eye-catching while honoring Avon Park’s deep roots in citrus production.
The mural will adorn a forward-facing wall of a downtown business, creating a colorful new photo opportunity and point of community pride.
“Our Design Committee wanted to create something fun, playful, and eye-catching while also paying tribute to Avon Park’s deep citrus roots, especially during these challenging times for the industry,” organizers said.
The project requires $6,000 to complete. Supporters can participate by sponsoring virtual “oranges” on a digital fundraising tree at $75 each. Donors may sponsor multiple oranges, with progress tracked publicly as contributions come in. The goal is to fill 80 virtual oranges.
Anyone donating $75 or more will have their name displayed on a banner at the mural’s dedication event. Contributors giving $1,000 or more — whether individuals, families or businesses — will also be recognized on a permanent plaque installed alongside the mural, which will detail the history and importance of Avon Park’s citrus industry.
The three-week fundraiser ends April 15. Organizers said the sooner the goal is met, the sooner work on the mural can begin.
“This truly takes a village — or in this case, a community — to make something like this possible,” the announcement stated.
